Released in December 2000, Place Called Lonely is a diverse collection of songs with country, folk and R & B influences. The CD was co-produced with engineer and multi-instrumentalist Jim Weeks at Cloud Cuckooland Studios in Northampton, Mass. Susan wrote all but one of the 12 tracks; Silent Train Running was co-written with drummer John Snedecor and recorded in his memory.

A number of great Pioneer Valley musicians play: Jim Armenti and Ray Mason of the Lonesome Brothers on guitars, mandolin and bass; Keith Levreault on drums, Doug Beaumier on pedal steel; Jim Weeks on electric guitar, keyboards, percussion and harmonica; with guests Jon Weeks on saxophone and Jeff Potter on keyboards.
